Muhoza Silverback Thinker

Muhoza the Thinker, I call him the thinker because this photo reminded me of Rodin’s amazing statue, The Thinker. It is such an uncommon way to see a gorilla sitting, and that is what I love about this shot. I’ve never seen a picture of gorilla sitting in such a pose, so deep in thought – showing us the similarity between us and them.

Everything about the gorilla reminds me of a human, not yet evolved, yet struggling as we all do for love, survival and life.

Each experience I had with the gorillas and in particular the silver backs was as unique as meeting different people.  They have individual mannerisms and habits.  Being in their presence brought me back to a primal experience, but also a reminder of our responsibility to not only our world, but all of the creatures that we share it with.
